RUNNING FOR THE BAY!

Show your support for the Chesapeake Bay, Chesapeake Experience and environmental education by pledging to support my “RUN FOR THE BAY”. On Sunday, March 16th, I will be running the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach and am seeking pledges of support that will be donated to Chesapeake Experience for 2008 camp scholarships.

100% of the money raised in this campaign will be used to allow deserving local students, recommended by their teachers, the opportunity to participate in Chesapeake Bay Kayak Camp with no registration fee. Students who would otherwise not be able to attend these educational camps, due to cost, would be given the opportunity to experience the Chesapeake Bay for a week-long camp.

Here’s What I Pledge:

1. Use 100% of tax deductible donations for student camp scholarships
2. Wear an “I’m Running for the Bay” t-shirt during the marathon and spend 26.2 miles talking to other runners and the crowd about the need to educate the public about Chesapeake Bay (education is one of the key ways we can reverse the decline of the Bay!)
3. To actually finish the race (ok, I will not win or even come close to placing, but I will run the entire course—26.2 miles-- and talk about the Bay to anyone who will listen along the way!). I will have at least 4 ½ hours to talk about the Bay!

Here’s all you have to do to help the RUN FOR THE BAY effort:

1. Pledge at least $26.20 to Chesapeake Experience TODAY. (Your donation is tax deductible as Chesapeake Experience is a non-profit (501 c-3) organization )
2. Email or phone in your pledge to me at jill@chesapeakeexperience.org or 757-890-0502 TODAY!
3. Mail your pledge after the marathon (photos of the race will be placed on our website) to Chesapeake Experience (reminders will be sent out via email!)
