Restoration Fund Supports Chesapeake Experience for 2009 Educator Workshops
During the weeks of June 22-26 and July 13-17 24 Hampton Roads educators (grades 4-12) will participate in "Experience the Chesapeake Bay 2009: Educators Getting Up Close and Personal with the Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem". This hands-on experience will provide a professional development training opportunity that highlights the ecosystem, classroom integration and implementation of meaningful field experiences that can be taken back to home schools and shared throughout the educational community. Teachers will particiapte in multiple field trips, demonstrations, kayak excursions, water quality testing, journal writing and much more. In addition, advanced workshops will be offered to teachers who attended last year's training. We will explore the history and ecology of the James River, the Eastern Shore of Virginia and develop strategies for implementing field experiences right on school grounds. If you are an interested educator, please contact Chesapeake Experience - space is limited!
Grant received from the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund, generated from the sale of Chesapeake Bay license plates.
