Chickahominy River Trip
The Chickahominy River is one of the most unspoiled rivers in the Chesapeake Bay and is rich in history and natural beauty. The 237 mile river winds through hardwood forests, neighborhoods, farmland, cypress swamps and freshwater wetlands. The lower portion of the River is flat-water and drains into the nearby James River.
This eco-paddle winds through Gordon Creek (near the mouth of the Chickahominy) and is breathtaking in the spring and summer as fresh water marsh plants flower in beautiful white and pinks.
In all seasons beautiful cypress trees, great blue heron, great egrets and countless other species are visible.
Chickahominy tribal members accompany Chesapeake Experience naturalists on this paddle for a one of a kind history/natural perspective on the Chickahominy River!
